Celebrate After Cinco de Mayo, at the NA-FC Public Library!
Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 6:00-7:30 PM
Strassweg Auditorium

Think you’ll miss out on actual Cinco de Mayo (Friday, May 5) because of all the Kentucky Derby festivities? Or just don’t want to deal with the crowds at the larger Cinco de Mayo celebrations around town? Then join us on the evening of Wednesday, May 10, 2017 for a performance by the Mexico Lindo dance troupe, a tissue paper flower craft, and light refreshments as we celebrate after Cinco de Mayo at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library! Cinco de Mayo is traditionally held on May 5, to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. While commemoration of this battle on May 5 in Mexico is usually more ceremonial, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has become a celebration of Mexican-American culture, and emphasizes Mexican cuisine, culture, and music.

The dance troupe Mexico Lindo will perform at 6:30 PM, and attendees can make tissue paper flowers (a fun and easy traditional Mexican craft) before or after the dance performance. All ages are welcome to attend this event. Light refreshments available while supplies last.

This event will take place on Wednesday, May 10 from 6:00-7:30 PM in Strassweg Auditorium, located in the lower level of the Library. For more information, please stop by the Reference Services Desk or call 812-949-3523.
