Pre-Construction Meetings For Two LPA Projects

Two pre-construction meetings for Local Public Agency (LPA) projects that impact New Albany and Floyd County were conducted yesterday at Indiana Department of Transportation Southeast District offices in Seymour.

Corydon Pike/Grant Line Road Project

A $651,867 LPA project sponsored by Floyd County is scheduled to begin in early June.  Contractor E & B Paving of Clarksville is charged with patching and resurfacing one mile of Corydon Pike between Atkins Lane and High Water Road, and 2½ miles of Grant Line Road from the Floyd-Clark County line south to CSX rail crossing. Flaggers will direct traffic around moving worksites.  Operations are expected to be completed by the end of June.

Mt. Tabor Road Reconstruction Project

Utility relocations are slated to start within two weeks, making way for full-depth reconstruction of Mt. Tabor Road between State Road 111/Grant Line Road and Klerner Lane.  The City of New Albany is sponsoring this $3,065,117 multi-faceted LPA project that calls for rebuilding 0.84 miles of Mt. Tabor Road with sidewalk, curb and ADA-compliant curb ramp installations.  AllTerrain Paving & Construction of New Albany is the project’s prime contractor.  Subcontractor Beaty Construction of Boggstown will be responsible for securing slide areas along Slate Run Creek.

Motorists may experience flaggers at worksites and some lane closures later in the summer.  Most construction operations will occur in 2019.

LPA Participation

Both LPA projects require local sponsors to pay 20 percent of construction costs in matching funds.  The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) pays 80 percent.

The Indiana Department of Transportation administers FHWA funding and oversees both projects to assure compliance with federal standards.

Jacobi, Toombs & Lance Engineers of New Albany produced engineering plans and are responsible for onsite supervision of the Corydon Pike/Grant Line Road LPA project.

Beam, Longest & Neff provided engineering plans for the Mt. Tabor Road LPA project; United Consulting is responsible for day-to-day onsite supervision.
