August Computer Classes at NA-FC Library

Featuring Intermediate Level Classes for August 

For August 2017, the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library continues with our new schedule for monthly computer classes, returning again to Intermediate level classes. All of our August classes are aimed at the Intermediate level (except for two Beginner make-up classes), to be followed by Advanced level classes in September. In addition to classes on ever-popular Microsoft Word and Excel, our August schedule features two brand-new Intermediate classes: Intro to Blogging, and Staying Safe on the Internet. Beginner Word Make-Up

Tuesday, August 1, 6:30-8 PM

If you missed out on last month’s session, here is another chance to take it. This is a class for those with little to no experience with Word. Topics include: how to create and save documents, editing saved documents, how to change your font and text size, and basic formatting.

Beginner Excel Make-Up

Thursday, August 3, 6:30-8 PM

If you missed out on last month’s session, here is another chance to take it. This is a class for those who have little to no experience with Excel. You will learn about how Excel works, how to enter data, some easy functions, the difference between numbers and text, and some terms related to Excel.

Intermediate Word

Tuesday, August 8, 6:30-8:00 PM

Building on the skills learned in Beginner Word, participants will delve a little deeper into the functions of Word. You will learn how to find and replace, use the thesaurus, and organize toolbars.

 

Intermediate Excel

Thursday, August 10, 6:30-8:00 PM

Build on the skills you learned in Beginner Excel. You will learn how to do calculations, execute row and column management, and format cells, and how to use graphs and charts.

Bring Your Own Device: Windows 10

Saturday, August 12, 10:00 AM - NOON

Windows 10 is the newest operating system for Microsoft. Learn about all the new features of this long anticipated new system.

Email Level 2

Tuesday, August 15, 6:30-8:00 PM

Continue building your skills using email in this class. Here you will learn how to forward emails, how to use a cc (carbon copy), and how to manipulate attachments.

Digital Scrapbooking

Thursday, August 17, 6:30-8:00 PM

Get in on the excitement of keeping up with your digital photos by learning how to use digital scrapbooking! Come to class and learn which resources you can use to make a digital version of a scrapbook.

Intro to Blogging (NEW!)

Tuesday, August 22, 6:30-8:00 PM

Here is a class for those interested in sharing your stories and thoughts through blogging! Come to class and learn about this popular trend, some free websites for blogging, and tips for maintaining your blog.

Staying Safe on the Internet (NEW!)

Thursday, August 24, 6:30-8:00 PM

Build on the skills you learned in Internet Basics by ensuring that when you use the Web, you are practicing safe skills. Learn about some common misconceptions that are tied to the Internet as well as what you can do to protect your computer.
