Floyd County Court:

Floyd County Court hears class “D” felonies, misdemeanors, infractions, and certain violations of local ordinances. Floyd County Court hears contract, tort and landlord/tenant cases with a jurisdictional limit of $10,000 and small claims filings under $6,000. Floyd County Court is one of only three County Courts remaining in Indiana.

The Court has served Floyd County in the above capacity since 1976. Pursuant to 2007 Legislation the Floyd County Court will become Floyd Superior Court No. 2 on January 1, 2009, with unlimited civil jurisdiction.

Judge Glenn G. Hancock

  • Judge Hancock is a 1970 graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School, and graduated from Indiana University-Southeast in 1975 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree, where he served as Student Body President.
  • Judge Hancock then received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville, School of Law on May 5 th, 1982, and was admitted to practice law by the Indiana Supreme Court on June 4 th, 1982.
  • Upon admission to practice, Judge Hancock went into private practice focusing on civil litigation from 1982-2003. With the retirement of the Honorable Robert Hublar the Late Governor Frank L. O’Bannon appointed Glenn G. Hancock as judge of the Floyd County Court in 2003.
  • Judge Hancock is a member of the Million Dollar Advocated Forum. He is also a local historian who has published articles covering growth areas of the city and neighborhood grocery stores. The Floyd County Court operates a Probation Department and an Alcohol and Drug Services Program which assists the Court in completing its purpose and mission. Both Departments are operated under and supervised by the Court.

Court Information:

  • Courtroom Attire is business casual.
  • Children cannot accompany parents in the courtroom unless they are being interviewed by the court in a particular case. There are no facilities to care for children. Other appropriate arrangements must be made.
  • Cell Phones and Recording Devices must be turned off at all times while in the courtroom. No photo or recording devices of any kind are permitted.
  • Parking is available in areas surrounding the courthouse.
  • Security prohibits weapons of any kind in the courtroom and in the building.
